“The Abbott Awards”, Cranbrook’s awards event, coincided with Cranbrook Community Theatre’s season launch. Respectfully named after a CCT founder, Bud Abbott (1921 – 2019), this exceptional formal gala event celebrates the very best of those involved in Community Theatres in Cranbrook and area.
The purpose of the Abbott Awards was to engage CCT membership in a meaningful way, to encourage membership growth, to promote the performing arts in our community, and to celebrate and recognize the efforts of our production teams and volunteers.
The stellar event announced the coming season of productions, included a silent auction fundraiser, and featured the awarding of trophies, or “Buddies”, voted on by the CCT membership in these categories:
Favourite Production
Favourite Director
Favourite Poster
Favourite Set Design
Favourite Actor
Favourite Actress
Favourite Supporting Actress
Favourite Supporting Actor
Favourite Newcomer
Favourite Costume
Volunteer of the Year

CCT members with active email addresses on file were invited to vote by online survey.
CCT members who did not use email could request a printed ballot be mailed to them.
As a volunteer non-profit organization, CCT also bestowed an award for ‘Volunteer of the Year’, by a vote of the CCT Board of Directors, to celebrate the efforts and dedication of those who work diligently and passionately behind the scenes and who are invaluable in ensuring the sustainability of the very best in community theatre through CCT.
