Synopsis: musical comedy
A charming play about the romantic exploits of Ella, a telephone answering service operator who meddles in the lives of her clients. She grows increasingly determined to help a young playwright who is having trouble getting work, falls in love with the head of a record company (who hoodwinks her to set up a bookmaking establishment), gossips and meddles with other telephone ‘belles’ and clients and cheerfully goes about her life. The plot thickens. Things don’t always go as Ella planned.
This show, with its gigantic cast and crew only performed for 3 nights. That was April 6, 7 and 8, 1967.
