Poster: Almost, Maine

Produced during the Covid 19 world-wide pandemic

About Almost, Maine

It is a cold Friday night in the middle of winter in a small, mythical town in northern Maine called Almost, Maine. A field of stars – a clear, cold, moonless northern night sky – serves as the backdrop for the entire play.
The New York Times describes Almost, Maine as “a series of nine amiably absurdist vignettes about love, with a touch of good-natured magic realism… witty, romantic, unsentimental. A beautifully structured play with nifty surprise endings (most but not all of them happy).”

Almost, Maine was the perfect project to retrofit for the socially distanced needs called upon during the time of COVID-19. Each short vignette was performed by members of a household or social bubble, and a total of 19 talented actors took the stage to perform this charming and delightful play.

The live audience was intimate and yet physically distanced. A wider audience was included through the magic of live-streaming technology. In such unprecedented times, the production team and CCT Board of Directors, worked in accordance with the BC Health Authority guidelines, to create a safe and unique way to continue the very important role of live theatre in our community.
